The presence of sedge huts in Pallosu , as in many other places and beaches of the Sinis (see On Siccu eg, San Giovanni di Sinis, Mari Mottu, Is Aruttas, Su Portu and Suedda, Putzu Idu), has certainly very ancient origin but their construction has had a remarkable development in the last century since the anni 50 .

Le massima concentrazione di capanne si raggiunge negli anni 70; queste, costruite quasi tutte in area demaniale, erano non meno di due-trecento disposte su più file, non sempre perfettamente allineate e si estendevano dalla old tuna (the first "hut" belonged to Uncle David, Atzori Riola ) until the entire beach of Sa Marigosa "area, also known as" is pallas Manias "for the presence of large banks Posidonia beached by heavy seas.
The "barraccas" traditional artifacts were built by skilled craftsmen (now there remain very few elderly survivors), whose structure was built with wooden poles and reinforced by other supporting poles, on which they determined the lattice of rods that served as a base for subsequent coating with sedge (grass Marsh also known as "cruccuri" or, in riolese, "sa chestnut").

The interior of the huts, usually with a floor made of cement, was divided into a living area, right at the entrance , for the kitchen and communal living area and one-night in the back, with one or two bedrooms of a few square meters, separated by walls of wood or cane and with the entrance of the tendon. Externally, most of the huts, had a canopy on the front and the back yard with a fence reeds, where he had placed a small bathroom with wooden walls. Not being provided with electricity for lighting at night is initially used carbide lamps - " zentillena know" - and then the most modern gas lamps.
Inside the huts, but with some problems of space for larger families (35-40 sqm), we lived pretty well: they were very cool on hot days and maintained a constant temperature.

The life of the village huts Pallosu, during the long summers of the '60s and '70s was festive and joyous . Many families already at the closure of schools, moved to the sea to spend even two to three months of vacation, we created a new community life, with the birth of new friendships and neighborly relations. In the long sunny days (but in the evening, after dinner) and the moments of meeting and entertainment venues were numerous, seated under the canopies " friscu up to" you entertained long conversations or play cards, wine, Vernaccia wine and desserts are always available.
is organized musical evenings and dance with local musicians, including the huts or in the wide space of salt that had dried up in summer (ma ricordo anche una serata a ferragosto nel cortile dell’hotel Su Pallosu).
We often went fishing in rocky areas ( is arroccas ) near the so-called "pools " here, in puddles of water between the rocks, we caught fish - gobies (Mazzonis), blennies and roccaletti - using a small fishing line tied to the end of a big piece of wire, about 50-60 cm long. At the end of the fishing never missed a swim in the wading pools small (Punta Tuna) and, for older children, in the large pool - about two feet deep - with a number of diving from a rock that served as a springboard.
Among other entertainment for kids, we were down on his stomach in the steep sandy slopes in front of the villas and Espis Puddu, the clearance between the so-called "pallas Manias," the endless practice match of football on the beach or in saline, the races or jump. So, for boys, Pallosu was a paradise, a magical place where there was no time and everything was fun.
The first demolition of illegal houses of Pallosu (especially those in shelters and walls) were carried out in 73-74. Simultaneously, a number of huts were put in sedge seized and owners prosecuted for abuses carried out; the release from seizure, occurred on appeal August 74 with externalization of artifacts in judicial custody to the same owners.
In the following years there was a revival in style of construction that reached the highest concentration in the late '70s. In
1980, after several years of bureaucratic delays, and uncertainties of administrative appeals, while recognizing the cultural value of manufactured products and the perfect integration into the landscape, the demolition order was issued by the City of San Vero Milis, performed with great difficulties for the opposition of the owners between 22 and 24 September . Only a few huts
characteristics of sedge were spared, with the intent (that was then) the city administration to use it to host public services (tourist offices, toilets, etc.). most of these huts, however, in those days were razed by fire, and almost course of the fires were arson.
So ended, in the most dramatic, an era, that of the village of Pallosu and characteristics "barraccas. The reclamation of sites, however, twenty years later has not yet been implemented, so that in some stretches of beaches and water (as a result of the advance of mare per l’erosione) sono tuttora presenti materiali residui delle demolizioni (blocchetti, tubi di cemento, ecc.).
Le pochissime capanne rimaste a Su Pallosu, sono durate fino a metà degli anni ’90 , finchè non è stata emanata una nuova ordinanza di demolizione e sono state abbattute.
